Low CO2 emissions
The reprocessing of non-ferrous metals by hydrometallurgical means significantly reduces CO2 emissions from industry. It avoids the extraction and processing of minerals, which are extremely CO2-emitting and energy-intensive.
In addition, JGI-HYDROMETAL processes are subject to continuous improvement, particularly in terms of efficiency, energy consumption and CO2 emissions.

The materials of tomorrow are imagined today. Many Belgian and European research projects are underway within JGI-HYDROMETAL.
Recycling of rare earths contained in our technological products, recycling of batteries and electric vehicles, residues from permanent magnets, recovery of waste to produce new high-performance optical fibers, etc. The technological and ecological challenges are numerous. Our R&D team studies more than 100 materials and 50 front metals on average per year. Each member of JGI-HYDROMETAL is a daily actor of change, a daily actor of positive and sustainable solutions.
